I love Jimmy’s quote! When you love going to the beach as much as we do you are always looking for the “one”. For me, Bombinhas turned out to be that little slice of heaven. If you are from Europe or the United States, you have probably never heard of this beach, and you are definitely missing out! You see, this beach is known very well by almost all Brazilians, wealthy Argentinians and Uruguayans. In the summer months it becomes a madhouse with crowds of beautiful people in tiny swimsuits. Prices for lodging in the summer are also very high.
Our first trip to Bombinhas was during this high season. We went only for one day and we were not happy with the large crowds and traffic. So, Dale had the great idea to go in the off season and book a hotel directly on the beach. The prices were much lower and it allowed us the relaxing weekend we have been craving. We booked a place called Pousada Vila do Coral. This place was amazing! Powdered sugar sand, and water so clear you would think you were in the Caribbean. The Pousada sat on the beach with an amazing swim up pool bar, and right between two delicious seafood restaurants. The service was exceptional!
We had a fabulous time. We spent the weekend swimming, relaxing, eating amazing food, and sipping beer by the sea.
We hiked a trail to a beautiful lookout. The lookout, called Eco 360 gave us some of the most impressive views I have ever seen. It is not for the faint of heart though. I happen to have a slight fear of heights and in most of my pictures you can see that I look nervous. You see, that 360 degree view comes without any guard rails, and some steep rocks you must scamper up. It is so worth it though!
We were surprised to find out that Bombinhas has 22 different beaches. From the calm waters of Bombinhas beach to the rough yet crystal clear waves of the surfing beach, Mar de Dentro, it has everything you could want – it was the perfect place for an amazing weekend.
Surfing, some of the best diving in Brazil, snorkeling, paragliding, hiking, windsurf, Stand Up Paddle Board, rappelling, sand dunes, scuba diving, bars, restaurants, lots of people to watch, deserted beaches, family friendly, romantic getaway, you catch my drift– something for everyone! This place has definitely made it to the top of our list of favorite beaches in Santa Catarina and already we cannot wait to return.
